Our policy regarding the use of packaging for our products ?
At Pure Belge we are very conscious of our obligations to the environment and we make every effort to minimise the impact of our activity and work closely with all our suppliers to achieve our aim . We do ,however ,have to balance these obligations with the need to protect our products for food safety, en to ensure that our customers enjoy only the highest possible quality .
Printed cartons .Due to the need to avoid any taints and odours which make affect the quality of our chocolates we only use pure virgin material in the production of our boxes . All the board is obtained from sources which have active regeneration programs and more trees are planted than are cut down for paper production .All our cartons are fully re-cycleable .
Cardboard boxes . Corrugated cardboard is one of the best possible materials for providing protection to fragile products . Our boxes use approximately 80 % re-cycled material with the remaining 20 % being virgin material which is required for added strength . All our cardboard is fully re-cycleable .
We do not use any wood sourced from rainforests as hardwood is simply not suitable for paper manufacture .
The slow growth produces short length fibres whereas paper needs long fibres which only come from fast growing trees from temperate climates .
Plastics. All plastic materials have an environmental impact and this cannot be avoided . We constantly strive to ensure that the materials we use minimise that impact and we only use them minimum possible to give the protection and presentation which we believe our customers expect . We are always looking to work with less and stronger films as a means of reducing our usage as well as working to reduce waste in all areas of our operation .
